Notes:

Change in price is the change since the last report. Prices are estimates based on delivery to dairy farms with allowance for freight, storage, and marketing costs, but exclusive of GST. Wheat prices are for the relevant stockfeed wheat available in a region (ASW, AGP, SFW1 or FED1) and F1 for barley.

Grain Commentary

  • Wheat: Steady ($285 to $295/tonne). Barley: Steady ($240 to $250/tonne). Maize: Steady ($335 to $345/tonne). Canola Meal: Down $5 ($440 to $450/tonne).
  • Wheat prices remain steady, despite continuing offshore volatility. Exporters continue to offer the most demand, with small amounts trading locally.
  • Barley prices are also steady, with domestic demand remaining strong. Demand from the dairy market is expected to slow in the short term as some farmers begin to dry off cows in preparation for autumn calving.
  • Domestic demand for canola has reduced this week, with canola prices reducing in response.
