Investing in Innovation

Dairy Australia is part of a network of industry partners who invest in dairy research and innovation to deliver transformational herd and forage productivity gains for farmers which can sustain the global competitiveness of Australia's dairy industry.

Dairy Australia's innovation investments on behalf of the industry are funded by a combination of levies paid by dairy farmers and matching payments from the Commonwealth Government for eligible research and development activities.

The two main research and innovation programs that Dairy Australia invests in are DairyBio and DairyFeedbase. A relatively small amount of levy money investment (15% of the total of these programs) has attracted a significant amount of additional funding from Agriculture Victoria and the Gardiner Dairy Foundation. This innovation investment framework has already enabled significant advances and benefits to be delivered for Australian dairy farmers.
