Central Conference hosts National Guidelines launch

The Australian dairy industry is leading the world!

Agriculture Victoria and Dairy Australia have released comprehensive national guidelines, specifically written for Australian conditions, to help dairy farmers who are looking to invest in innovative feeding and housing solutions.

These world-first national guidelines will help dairy farmers and their dairy advisors input the right system for long and short-term use, consider local Australian conditions and regulations and decide on the right solution for their farm to avoid costly mistakes.

The national guidelines are drawn on consultations with 21 experts from within Australia and around the world to offer farmers information on current global best practices relevant to Australian conditions.

South Australian central farmers and the DairySA team were fortunate to witness the soft launch of the National Guidelines for Feedpads and Contained Housing at the 2023 Central Conference on Wednesday, 22 March in Murray Bridge. Dairy Australia's National Feeding and Farm Systems Lead Karen Romano was present on the day alongside keynote speaker Scott McDonald from Agriculture Victoria, to promote the Guidelines to industry members in person.

Karen also took a moment during the event to discuss the new guidelines with ABC SA Country Hour host and rural reporter Brooke Neindorf. Listen to the full recording here.
