Rearing Healthy Calves (fundamentals) -Allansford

This 2 day workshop is for farmers, calf rearers and service providers who seek to enhance their knowledge and skills around supporting calf health from birth to weaning.

Topics covered include:

• Preparation for calving
• Colostrum feeding
• Nutrition from birth to weaning
• Calf scours and respiratory disease
• Animal health -biosecurity for calf rearing
• Calf husbandry -ID; disbudding; castration; vaccination
• Bobby calf care
• Calf rearing environment/housing

Farm visit planned for day 2 to review operational management of fundamentals discussed on day 1.

Participants will be provided with lunch each day, Rearing Healthy Calves manual, workbook and shed guide summary handouts.
