Graduates eye dairy jobs

Seven farms have partnered with Western Dairy, WA College of Agriculture Harvey, WA College of Agriculture Denmark and South Regional TAFE to launch the first Year 12 Graduate Dairy Placement Program in WA.

Through a professional recruitment process, the partners seek to match enthusiastic Year 12 college graduates with participating dairy farms. Successful student candidates will be offered full-time employment for one year and formal dairy training through South Regional TAFE, either through completing a Certificate III in Agriculture (Dairy units), or in the case of outstanding applicants a Certificate IV in Agriculture (Dairy modules).

Participating farms are required to provide best-practice employment systems, a safe working environment and positive workplace culture. Both trainees and farmers will be provided with support and guidance throughout the one-year traineeship from Western Dairy including training workshops such as ‘Cups on Cups Off’ and ‘Feeding Pastures for Profit’. Trainees are also offered confidential consultations with Western Dairy regarding employment and career pathways.
