According to DairySA Conference Coordinator Cathy Ashby, this year’s Innovation Day program has been devised in response to the Committee’s input into the touchstone issues facing dairyfarmers today.

“More than ever, farmers are looking for ways to increase productivity and profitability using the information at their fingertips,” explained Ms Ashby.

“The traditional landscape is changing for today’s dairy farm business – our carefully chosen speakers will provide an insight into some of today’s leading edge research and technologies being used in the Australian dairy industry,” she added.

Prof. Jennie Pryce will provide the latest from the DairyBio program, explaining how farmers can achieve more fertile, productive and healthy herds through unlocking genetic gains.

Dr Matthew Shaffer will provide insights into DataGene technology, giving farmers greater understanding of data at their fingertips - and how to apply this to improve their own herds.

A mix of concurrent sessions in the afternoon will provide participants with a cross section of themes to choose from:

  • Improving animal performance with the latest research from the 100 Days project
  • Applying the latest technology from the Pasture Smarts Program to better forecast pasture performance and achieve better yields
  • Giving your calves the right start - the latest research into colostrum management and its impact on the health and growth of dairy calves

AFL legend, media personality and Dairy Industry Ambassador Jonathan Brown will be guest speaker at the event.

Up to 200 dairyfarmers and service providers from across SA’s South East and beyond - are expected to attend the popular one day Innovation Day, to be held at The Barn, Mt Gambier on June 9.

The ‘Top Paddock’ post conference event of a light graze and drinks will be followed by the popular Innovation Day Dinner.
